Science shapes society and social relations shape the production of academic knowledge: at universities, new knowledge is never merely acquired; rather, access to this knowledge is always facilitated, regulated or obstructed. Although contradictions arising from the tension between the university, power and knowledge can rarely be resolved, they can be critically examined.
In a reading group organized by PhD candidates, this critical potential serves as an opportunity to collectively discuss academic and literary texts on knowledge production and the critique of power relations. The focus lies on intersectional entanglements of class, gender, race, disability and neurodiversity.
The reading group especially addresses FLINTA* PhD students and postdocs of the University of Bremen. We will discuss the texts in both German and English. Please register in advance via lekreis@uni-bremen.de, the texts will be sent to all attendees via e-mail.
