Contesting the Norm. Contradictions of Referential Presupposition of Gender

The project explores linguistic cases of doubt as constellations of conflicting norms within speaking situations and among actors of metapragmatic negotiation. It develops methods for their systematic description using the example of doubtful cases of referential gender presupposition. It develops methods for the systematic description of pragmatic cases of doubt based on questions of referential gender presupposition. In doing so, it contributes to a more nuanced understanding of a currently polarizing debate and develops the case of doubt as a discourse-pragmatic approach.
