Clara Müllenmeister
Contesting the Norm. Contradictions in Referential Presupposition of Gender
The project explores metapragmatic contradictions as constellations of conflicting norms: Doubt within speaking situations and controversy among actors of metapragmatic negotiation. It develops methods for the systematic description of metapragmatic contradiction, based on the subject of referential gender presupposition. In doing so, it contributes to a more nuanced understanding of a currently polarizing debate and develops contradiction as a heuristic approach to analyzing the dynamics of discursive relations of norms.
