Approval of the second funding phase of the Research Training Group »Contradiction Studies«
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) has extended funding for the Research Training Group 2686 »Contradiction Studies« for a further four and a half years.
We are delighted by this decision, which enables us to continue the successful work of the Research Training Group and to further support outstanding early-career researchers from Germany and abroad.
The second funding phase emphasizes the dynamics of polarization that emerge between seemingly contradictory positions. It explores how social conflicts, individual actions, and forms of coexistence can be understood beyond simplified oppositions.
Drawing on research about contradictions, we also offer a new, critical perspective on the topos of polarized societies.
Beginning in mid-2028, a third cohort will take up these issues and build on the work of the first and current second cohorts.
Starting with the second funding phase, the research group will operate under the title »Contradiction Studies – Contradiction and Contradictions in the Dynamics of Polarization«.
